Explore the world at the Manchester Museum with its 4 floors of displays and exhibitions in 15 galleries, featuring collections from all over the world. Founded as a natural history museum in 1821, the Manchester University-owned museum has grown to play host to a fascinating collection of exhibits.
From a fossilised Tyrannosaurus Rex, ethology collections from South America to the Museum's own collections of fossils and minerals; the museum will leave you desperate for more. In addition to the permanent exhibits, regular special exhibitions take place throughout the year. A highly recommended spot for a break, Café Muse sits right next door.
Families visiting the Manchester Museum will see the world come to life. See the famous Egyptology galleries; the Prehistoric Life Gallery, home to Stan the T.rex; the Vivarium where you can see live reptiles and frogs as they would be in their natural habitat; Zoology collections featuring mammals and birds; and extensive ethnology collections from around the world.
In addition to its permanent collections, the Museum also has regular changing exhibitions and a great programme of family activities throughout the year.
