Tariff & Dale

Despite being, amongst other things, firebombed during the Blitz, the building now occupied by Tariff & Dale is still standing, and was rediscovered by local bar entrepreneur Nick De Sousa in 2014.

To keep the original features in place, the tradesmen entrance was made the front door, a glorious lift shaft became a cosy booth, the loading bay is a private drinking space, and the hydraulic fabric press takes pride of place in the entrance way.

The spacious ground floor bar serves high quality drinks of all descriptions. A carefully curated list of cocktails takes nine classics and creates three versions of each - one classic and two more individual twists on the original, invented by the bar team.

Much of the juices, syrups and purees are made fresh on site daily. There is also a large artisan gin and tonic selection, served with bespoke garnishes, as well as a selection of the best the current British and local Craft beers.

In the basement is the restaurant. With 72 covers, an open kitchen and the same barely altered backdrop as upstairs, the Tariff and Dale menu is a straightforward tribute to good food and expert cooking, with a deep appreciation of the best local produce.

With natural light provided by the original, street level windows above by day, and candle lit by night, Tariff and Dale's restaurant is a cool, cosy venue for enjoying very special food and drink.
