Manchester is home to a thriving LGBT scene, centred around the world famous Canal Street.

Valentine's Weekend 2015 sees Manchester host the  First National Festival of LGBT history, across a range of the city's most prestigious venues.

On Saturday 14 February, the Festival takes over Manchester's newly refurbished Central Library as part of its new Archives+ service.

Whilst on Sunday 15 February; the festival is hosted by People's History Museum.

In addition, to the weekend line up is the LGBT History Conference, an academic event sponsored by Manchester Metropolitan University.

Various exciting venues throughout Manchester will host a week-long film festival, with special guests and films from around the world. There will also be family friendly events, city walks, archive training events and various other surprises, as well as celebrity appearances.

Located in the city centre,  The Gay Village  is both a place to party and a living piece of social history - proof that Manchester is one of the worlds leading gay-friendly cities.
