There's lots of outdoor activities happening in Tameside to get you out and about from gentle strolls to strenuous hikes, and lots of fun for the kids too.

As the Crow Flies
Join Paul Nethercott on a ten mile strenuous walk and discover some of the best countryside in Tameside; moorland, river valleys, towpaths and tracks.

Portrait of Werneth Low
A short stroll around Lower Higham and Werneth Low looking at what makes this place so special and why it commands such affection in the people who visit it every year.

K.I.T.E (Kids in the Environment)
Kite is a group for young people aged 7 - 11 years who want to learn more about their environment and wildlife through a different activity each month.
10am -12 noon @ Park Bridge Heritage Centre, The Stables, Park Bridge, Ashton under Lyne, OL6 8AQ.  

Sunday 3 February         
Hare Ridge Ramble
A very strenuous seven mile walk over the rough, winter landscape of the Eastern Moorlands in search of the elusive white hare. This is access land so 'No Dogs Allowed'.
10am - 4pm @ Castle Clough car park, Buckton Vale Road, Carrbrook, Stalybridge, SK15 3PJ.   

Sunday 10 February
Ramble to Rowarth
Join John and Margaret Morrison on this moderate ten mile walk over the hill to Rowarth. Enjoy extensive views over Tameside, Kinder Scout and the Cheshire Plain to the distant Clwydian Hills.
10am - 4.30pm @ Lymefield Visitor Centre, off Lower Market Street, Broadbottom, SK14 6AG.

360 Degrees of Hyde
A winter five mile wander taking in the lowest and highest points in Hyde and the panorama from the Low.
11am -2.30pm @ Car park, bottom of Meadow Lane, Haughton Green, Denton, M34 7QA.           

Tuesday 19 February                     
Junior Ranger
A chance for young budding rangers to join the conservation team and gets some hands on experience, treeplanting and coppicing. For children aged eight years and older, who must be supervised by a responsible adult. Bring your lunch,wear old clothes and stout footwear.

Thursday 21 February                   
Wild Woods
A fun day in the countryside for families. Follow a woodland trail, construct a shelter and have a go at woodland crafts.
1pm- 3pm  @ Bardsley car park, Oldham Road, Ashton under Lyne, OL7 9PG.  2 hours

Millbrook Heritage Walk
A two mile walk with Paul Nethercott to discover the part played by canals and industry in the development of Millbrook village.

Take a four mile stroll back through the ages with Maximus Bamforth to a time when Imperial Rome governed Werneth Low and Tameside with a hand of iron.

A gentle stroll around Broad Mills looking for signs of spring, then treat your Mum to a cream tea.

Etherow Classic
Join John and Margaret Morrison on this ten mile walk to Compstall and back with hills, woods, rivers, lows and beautiful views.

Sunday 24 March                             
Crossing the Boundary
An eight mile route following part of the Leesfield parish boundary, over Brown Edge, to Park Bridge for lunch and back over Hartshead Pike.
10am - 3.30pm @ Mossley Market Ground, Top Mossley, OL5 0LN.

Spring Equinox Walk
Explore the Park as the flora and fauna springs into life.

Easter Egg Hunt
A marvellous egg - stravaganza for younger children. As well as the hunt there will be competitions for best dressed Easter egg and bonnet.

Transport Trek
Walk down route 626 to Ashton station, take the train to Greenfield (£3 approx) and walk along bridleways and paths, then follow the Tameside Trail back to Park Bridge.

A seven mile walk through the Local Nature Reserves of Silver Springs and Knott Hill looking for signs of spring.

Birdwalk
Discover some of the local birdlife of the Medlock valley on this gentle stroll with Chris Kellett.

A ten mile walk across wild, windswept Werneth Low and on to the historic delights of Chadkirk Chapel in the Goyt Valley and back via Etherow Country Park.
