Rural escapes in Spring
Manchester is much more than a bustling city, it is home to some of the country's most beautiful countryside. In Ramsbottom, a thriving market town just 14 miles outside the city, visitors can take in the picturesque views of the West Pennine Moors. Dig out the hiking boots and take a leisurely stroll up through the town's traditional streets to Peel Tower (you can't miss it) which stands proudly on Holcombe Hill.
Exhausted from all that walking? Hop on the East Lancashire Railway for a spot of afternoon tea in one of the vintage carriages.
If you visit Ramsbottom during the month of April, make sure you don't miss out on the town's annual Chocolate festival which is always very popular.
