Manchester's thriving nightlife scene is reflected in the variety of its clubs. Here are some of the best. Have we missed your favourite? Leave a comment and let us know.
Situated on Oldham Street in the heart of the Northern Quarter, Mint Lounge prides itself on offering something a little more than a traditional clubbing experience. Home to Manchester's longest running club night, Funkademia as well as ultra cool 'digital disco' Clique, this is one to make an effort for.
Paying tribute to everything cool and kitsch, Tiger Lounge is a fabulous basement bar with swinging club nights that capture the spirit of the 60s. A great place for an alternative late night in Manchester.
New Order's Peter Hook runs this club in the former Factory Records HQ. That doesn't mean it's all Hacienda classics and nostalgia though. The three-floor venue offers a varied clubbing menu covering everything from dubstep and hip hop to indie and electro.
Located in Beehive Mill Ancoats, this Manchester legend is still up for it every weekend (and some Thursdays). Tribal Sessions on Fridays and The Redlight on Saturdays.
The Star and Garter may not look that appealing from the outside, but on Saturday nights it plays host to Smile, Manchester's longest-running indie night. It's certainly not for everyone; don't expect to hear mainstream chart fare here. However, if you love lo-fi gems and alternative classics, you might just find yourself becoming a Star and Garter regular.
