Travelling to Manchester by road

This really isn't very useful. I am planning a first time trip to Manchester. I have access to a car. But am willing to travel by public transport as well. There doesn't seem to be much help to guide me as to the best way to get into Manchester. Or any prices for car parks. It seems to me I'd have to do an awful lot of research going through each of the options you display to sift out helpful info. Think of us poor folk who are new to all of this info. Not sure I can face coming now.

I travelled using "ecocars" .. so much for eco.. was an old avensis a real diesel drinker.. not very green.. and why didnt it say ECO taxis.. it was sent by some little firm called Jeffriescars .. i feel duped... so much for advertising an eco friendly company.. that listing should be changed to gas guzzlers taxis

A very pretty website, with high bandwidth required and totally useless with no apparent search facility. I was looking for a place to park a coach, and found that the link to the coach parking map is broken, with a smartarsed 404 page not found message saying that "This didn't make the final cut, but it'll be on the DVD" Huh? What's that all about? Then you want at least 10p per minute to wait for your people to answer the phone. Not a great advert for Manchester.

Hello John, thanks for your comment. The search facility is found using the magnifying glass in the top right-hand corner of the screen. I've tested the coach parking map link and it seems to work for me. This is a really confusing site - All I want to do is drive up and use some kind of park and ride service to access the city centre. Every time I try and find one all I get is park and ride for the airport - nothing for the city. Cities are trying to encourage us to use park and ride schemes but as far as I can see this is not the case for Manchester !

I went into Manchester today, and found finding a car park pretty much impossible. The road was often closed to traffic with no warning, and there were no sign posts. For someone unfamiliar with the city, it is very difficult to get around.
