Just so Stories - The Lowry, 23 February

Enjoy four of Rudyard Kipling's best-beloved tales in this highly-acclaimed production by Red Table Theatre.

Quarry Bank Mill

Quarry Bank's family activities are fun for all ages.

Become a 'Styalist' - Mon 17 - Fri 21 Feb, 12 - 4pm

Design a 'Styalish' outfit for your own cut-out puppet. Follow the fashion trail through the Mill (50p).

Finger knitting workshop - Wed 19, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm

Learn how to finger knit and make your own scarf.

Things to do for free

Arts and crafts workshops hosted by Urban Exchange, Great Ancoats Street

The arty activities will run inside Go Outdoors on 17, 18, 19 February between 11am and 4pm, and will include the use of paper, card, sequins, glitter, streamers and noodle doodles to make and decorate masks, crowns and kites.

Children of all ages will be able to do as little or as much as they like, before taking their handiwork home.

Jump into a toybox full of fun at intu Trafford Centre

Free craft workshops will take place on the Bandstand in The Orient each day, from "shrinkles" classes to wooden spoon doll-making, from making your own music shakers to creating funky teddy bear bunting. Adorable toy soldiers will patrol the malls keeping an eye on proceedings!

Big Saturday: Birds and Flight - Manchester Museum, Sat 15 Feb

Be amazed by the variety of birds and flying animals on display in the Museum. Find out more about birds from around the world, where they live and what they eat. Discover other gliding animals from butterflies to bats, and create paper birds of your own to take home.

MOSI (Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry)

There's so much for families to enjoy at MOSI, meet historical characters, watch demonstrations of original machinery, take a train ride behind a replica steam locomotive, take part in hands-on workshops and much more.

SEA LIFE Manchester

SEA LIFE has over 5,000 creatures including sharks, seahorses, octopus, jellyfish and rays. You can watch fun talks and feed shows throughout the day while holding a crab or touching a starfish in an interactive touchpool experience. Test your creature knowledge and take part in a free kids quiz trail. A children's soft play area is also available.

Legoland Discovery Centre

Just about everyone loves Lego, and just about everyone will enjoy a trip to Legoland Discovery Centre at the Trafford Centre. If kids want to get a bit more 'hands on', there's lots to do, including building workshops, themed activities and a huge pool of Lego bricks to get creative with. For young children, the Duplo Village offers soft foam bricks to play with. To let off a little steam, kids can enjoy the Fire Academy indoor playground, complete with jungle gym, climbing wall and slide.

Chill Factore

Why not enrol your children in Snow School this half-term, the UK's most authentic indoor ski resort, complete with real snow. If it's more thrills than skills the little ones are after they can enjoy the Snow Park. The Snow Park includes a host of fun snow activities including Tubing, the Snow & Ice Luge, Crazy Sledging, SnowPlay Area and the SnowPlay Carousel. There are plenty of activities to keep the older kids and adults entertained too, making it a great day out for the whole family.
