Manchester Day

A day for families, residents and visitors to get together and celebrate all things Mancunian.

19 June 2016

Manchester Day is an annual event that celebrates everything great about the city. It is a day for families, residents and visitors to get together and celebrate all things Mancunian that have made Manchester one of the world's most iconic cities.

Manchester Day 2016 promises to be even bigger and better than ever! As well as an amazing parade through the heart of the city, Manchester's city centre squares will feature a dazzling array of performances, decorations and mouth watering food and drink throughout the day.

This year's theme is Eureka! representing Manchester as a pioneering city that's still at the forefront of modern discovery, European City of Science for 2016 and home of the National Graphene Institute, as well as Archimedes, the Ancient Greek mathematician, moments of sudden inspiration in everyday life and a celebration of the history of Manchester as the first industrial city and its history of pioneering spirit, from vegetarianism, atomic theory, competitive football to British dance music.
