A new pop-up cinema night comes to Manchester for 2012
The Film Night takes fantastic films, mixes in unusual venues and adds music and dancing for a night you won't forget! Upgrading your regular night at the cinema into an exciting, memorable, social experience, The Film Night will submerge the audience in their favourite films and the music and fashion of that era for an immersive nostalgia trip like no other.
Each Film Night will feature a site-specific pop-up cinema,
complete with popcorn and ushers, in a setting featured in the
film. When the credits go up the party starts- DJs will spin tunes
featured in the film and from that era or genre, and a pop-up bar
will serve a themed menu of cocktails, beers, spirits and soft
drinks.
All ushers and bar staff will be dressed in the fashions of the
film and the audience will be heartily encouraged to dress up
too.
The first event on 27 January will screen the quirky,
edgy romantic comedy Secretary, described as 'a comedy for
everybody who's been tied up at work' and 'Love Story meets Blue
Velvet'. The film stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader and won
the 2002 Sundance Special Jury Prize. This will take place in
thestudio, the meeting and conference venue space in The Hive
building on Lever Street.
After the film the audience will head across the road to Kraak
Gallery for a Mad Men-style office party where audiences can dance
the jitterbug to 60s pop, sip cocktails and vodka jelly and play
Pin The Beehive on Joan!
