Summer is all about al-fresco dining and relaxing in beer gardens, here are some of the best areas in Manchester to sit out in the sun (fingers crossed) and enjoy a bite to eat and a cold drink. Download city centre map.
Oxford Road is home to Kro 2, which has one of the biggest outdoor spaces in the city, complete with heaters & covers for the cooler days. Pure Space sits just near Oxford Road Station and combines the best food, drink, music, and atmosphere over its three floors. Its spectacular roof terrace is one of the main pulls and you might find it difficult to leave.
A landmark drinking area in Manchester, where railway arches house trendy bars such as Revolution and The Comedy Store. Wooden walkways span the canal below, and most have tables outside. Over the road, Atlas has a famous sun terrace and regular DJs in session. Perfect for cocktails in the sun and warm summer evenings.
An area great for outdoor dining, with lots of waterside pubs and bars. Dukes 92 has a generous canalside patio, providing an idyllic setting for the perfect summer pub lunch. The menu ranges from sandwiches and snacks to constantly changing pasta and chef's specials. The multi award winning Choice Bar and Restaurant is just across the basin, serving a delicious modern British a-la-carte menu, with a patio barbeque during the summer months.
Home to Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. This chic area is home to two very down to earth pubs that the locals flock to, especially in the warmer months: Sinclairs Oyster Bar and The Old Wellington Inn. The Wellington dates back to the early 1500s, making it one of Manchester’s oldest buildings. Both serve real ale and pub grub and share a huge outdoor drinking area.
