Surrounding the 18th century house, the garden at Dunham Massey is a great plantsman's garden with interesting historic features like an Orangery, Pump House, Victorian Bank House and the remains of an Elizabethan Mount. The varied site and acid conditions provide a wide range of unusual shade and moisture loving plants including Giant Chinese Lilies, Himalayan Blue Poppies and rare late flowering azaleas, all set amongst manicured lawns, mixed borders and cool woodland. Set within the existing garden,the gardening team at Dunham Massey with the help of plantsman Roy Lancaster has developed a 7 acre winter garden,making it the largest in Britain. The garden conatins almost 700 different plant species. Families Bay changing facilities. Pushchairs admitted. Front carrying baby slings and hip caryying infant seats for loan.Childrens quiz/trail , family activities available. Set within the existing garden the Gardening team at Dunham Massey with the help of plantsman Roy Lancaster has developed a 7 acre Winter Garden making it the largest in Britain. The garden contains almost 700 different plant species and a further 1,600 shrubs specifically bred for the Winter Garden.
