Castleshaw is in the centre of Saddleworth in a beautiful location on the edge of the south Pennine Hills. It has been owned and run by Oldham Council since the early 1900’s. It is less than a kilometre from the Pennine Bridleway, 1.5km from the Peak District National Park and 2 km from the Pennine Way. The dramatic landscape of both the Peak District National Park and South Pennines provide the perfect backdrop for visitors to enjoy The picturesque village of Delph is 20 minutes’ walk away with shops, cafes, fish and chip shop, restaurants and a range of pubs, several of which also serve food. Uppermill (the largest of the Saddleworth villages) is a 10 minute drive away. Its popular attractions include numerous gift and craft shops, restaurants, tearooms and pubs. Other local activities are llama trekking, canal boat cruises aboard the Pennine Moonraker through breath taking countryside and Castleshaw Roman forts. The centre has been extensively upgraded over the last 10 years and now has excellent facilities, with improved lounge, cloakrooms, dining area, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. The minimum booking is 17 persons. If you have less people than this in your group you pay a supplement based on the lowest relevant overnight tariff.
