Oldham Carnival & Rootz Festival

Oldham Carnival & Rootz Festival

10 July 2016

A Dry Ice Rink is part of the 2016 festival. The rink will be active throughout the day and is part of the carnival's popular "Freebie Zone". Blades will be provided, free of course, by the rink organisers. It should provide fun for hundreds of youngsters between 11am and 6pm.

The popular Rootz Stage will, once again, provide a platform for local talent to play to a live, outside audience. So, whether a rock band, theatre group, dance group, solo or orchestra, please apply early as places are limited.

The popularity of the Freebie Zone cannot be over exaggerated and it is with this in mind the festival has decided to focus more on this part of the Carnival in coming years. With some of the usual favorites and some new additions including Circus Whiz returns, Professor Baubles Punch and Judy as well as Rumple the Clown. The addition for 2016 will be the fabulous Dry Ice Rink. A great Freebie Zone.

The United Kingdom Dance Troupe Championships are held every year at the People's Carnival and attracts troupes from all over. Held on Saturday June 27 this year, the troupes will march on the People's Carnival Parade and display their talents in two large arenas in Alexandra Park.
