Since opening its doors, The Art Of Tea’s antiquated charm and character has brought life into an area littered with soulless style bars.

Having worked for numerous bars in and around Manchester for several years, Owners Ryan Thompson and Karen Schofield had decided enough was enough and it was time to have a crack at it themselves. From hanging out in cafes and bars in some of Europe’s finest cities and having managed bars in Manchester’s Northern Quarter the couple had amassed many an idea and inspiration and would set forth in realising their own personal vision of what a cafe/bar should be like in an ideal utopian world.

In avoiding to create the typical British cafe-bar with polished chrome and sticky leather sofas The Art of Tea captures a bit of understated European cool. With a second hand bookshop at the back of the cafe and the constant donations of teapots, doilies and furniture from loyal customers, Ryan and Karen have achieved exactly what they set out to.
