Black Dog Ballroom – New Wakefield Street

Get a taste of the Big Apple without stepping a foot out of Manchester. Black Dog Ballroom is a New York style speakeasy offering an extensive food and drinks menu, though most importantly it boasts a comfortable roof terrace right in the heart of Manchester city centre. Complete with BBQ in the summer, the roof-terrace is also part-covered for when the Manchester rain just can’t hold off any longer.

Big Hands

Located in the heart of the student area on Oxford Road, the Big Hands roof terrace is a little harder to find with its tall leafy plants stretching up over its seating area. Shabby-chic at its finest, the Big Hands roof terrace offers a down-to-earth spot to soak up the sunshine, whilst sipping on one of the beers from its extensive craft selection downstairs.

Epernay

Although not strictly a rooftop, Epernay boasts a quaint balcony with great views over The Great Northern Warehouse, and is the perfect place to people-watch whilst enjoying some of the best bottles available.

Great John Street Hotel

The south facing Rooftop Lounge at Great John Street Hotel is a collection of elegant rooms looking out onto the hotel’s Rooftop Playground. Although it’s strictly indoors, the Rooftop Lounge boasts floor to ceiling windows which offer fantastic views of the city – perfect for when the night begins to get a little cooler. If you’re willing to splash the cash, the outdoor Rooftop Playground is available to hire with its roomy terrace, hot tub, BBQ area, sun lounges and glass veranda.

The Deansgate Tavern

A hidden gem, the rooftop terrace at the Deansgate Tavern is the perfect location to enjoy the sun with a cold refreshing drink, all while sheltered away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Comfortable outdoor seating and sparkling fairy lights mean you’ll probably be there until after the sun has gone down and it’s closing time!

Garage Bar

A relative newcomer to the list, Garage Bar is one of Manchester’s newest pop-ups – so you’ll have to be quick to catch this suntrap before it leaves again. Overlooking Bridge Street, it’s another ideal spot to watch the world go by with a drink in hand.

Manchester House

Fancy something a bit more special? Lounge on 12 is the impressive bar at Manchester House situated on level 12 of tower 12 in Spinningfields. Offering a spectacular backdrop to watch the sunset over Manchester, the heated outdoor terrace mixes the mood expertly with a menu of exclusive cocktails.
