Salford Quays: the home of MediaCityUK has the October half-term holidays covered, when it comes Halloween-themed activities and fun-filled days out. Families will find some of the UK’s best half term events taking place at Greater Manchester’s contemporary waterfront destination, which also celebrates 18 Years In The Making this year.  #TheQuaysat18

Visit Salford Quays this halt-term to celebrate its milestone; experience exciting exhibitions, fun theatre shows, interactive play sessions and Halloween-themed parties and grottos, and boat rides! There’s something for all ages – some that the adults will love too.

Keep the kids entertained this half term, with these top events and activities not to be missed!

1. How to Hide a Lion at The Lowry

Treat the family to a theatre show at The Lowry. Helen Stephens’ magical book, How to Hide a Lion, comes to life with playful humour, dazzling puppets and jazz. When a lion is chased out of town, a little girl helps him to find somewhere to hide. Watch the adventure unfold from Thursday 25 October – Sunday 28 October.   

2. Embark on a Halloween Adventure at Ordsall Hall

Visit the haunted Tudor Manor House, Ordsall Hall and embark a Halloween adventure. Spooky, scary and ghoulish gnomes have taken over Ordsall Hall; families are invited to help find them on this Gnome Trail from Sunday 21 to Sunday 28 October. Head to the hall to meet the resident witch in her Halloween Grotto, have a go at some spells and try to beat her riddles - if you dare! All brave souls will receive a special Halloween gift. (Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 October).  There’s also a Magic Potions and Secret Spells event on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 October; stop by the kitchen and have a go at making a 'magic potion' and decorating the bottle ready to do some magic at home. For mums and dads that are interested in ghostly goings on, book the Halloween Ghost and History Tour and find out about some of the ghosts that are said to haunt this fascinating building. (Monday 29 October)

3. Aqua Activities at Helly Hansen Water Sports Centre

Thrill-seekers should head to the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre for its Aqua Activities; try a taster of different watersports including kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing or raft building. The course runs from Monday 22 to Friday 26 October. And for the brave, book on to the Halloween Night Swim, suitable for age 14 years and over.  Join the 300m or 500m spooky swimloop of Salford Quays. Also included is a free Halloween swim cap, glow stick and a delicious hot soup/roll. (Monday 29 October).

4. Spooky Goings-On at Lowry Outlet MediaCityUK

Lowry Outlet MediaCityUK will host a Safe Trick or Treat event, on Wednesday 31st October, where children and families are invited to trick or treat safely around the stores! A spooky themed Makers Market will take place on Saturday 27- Sunday 28 October, featuring frightfully good artisan foods, drinks, and award-winning craftsmen on its open-air Plaza area. There will also be live music, and activities for children too. 

5. Explore the City's Scenery with City Centre Cruises

Set sail, and take a boat ride along Manchester’s historic ship canal and explore the city’s stunning scenery with City Centre Cruises, which offer a range of cruise attractions, including a Sunday Lunch Cruise - the perfect way to unwind with the family after a busy weekend. Available on Sunday 21st October.

6. Go Green for Halloween at Lime Bar and Restaurant

Also celebrating its 18th Anniversary year, Lime Bar and Restaurant will go green for Halloween! There will be a host of themed activities taking place from Wednesday 24 October right up to Halloween night. There will also be Halloween inspired menus to treat the family to!

7. Pumpkin Carving at The Copthorne Manchester

The Copthorne Manchester, a 4 star hotel situated on the waterfront at Salford Quays, will host a fun pumpkin carving competition. Guests are invited to vote for their favourite pumpkin to be in with a chance of winning a night’s stay at the hotel. Pumpkins will be on display around the hotel from Monday 29 – Wednesday 31 October.
