Wigan Pier to Arley Hall

This is a canal-side trail rich in natural history and heritage. Starting at the iconic Wigan Pier, the trail takes you along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and up Wigan’s famous flight of 23 locks to Top Lock. Then on through the wonderful and picturesque Haigh Plantations on your way to historic Arley Hall.

Wigan Pier to Appley Bridge

Starting at the iconic Wigan Pier and meandering through the Douglas Valley. This is a lovely canal-side trail mixing attractive and rich natural industrial heritage

Wigan Pier to Leigh Bridge

Starting at the iconic Wigan Pier and taking you through the unique collection of lakes and waterways known as Wigan Flashes and on through the Hey Brook Corridor to delightful Pennington. A canal-side trail rich in natural history and heritage.

Haigh Country Park

A lovey two hour walk taking in the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and Haigh Country Park. From Haihj Hall you'll get superb views of Wigan to the South. This leaflet is provided by Wigan Council.

Pennington Flash

Circle Pennington Flash Country Park with this 2.5 hour walk. The lake and surrounding marshland are home to a diverse group of mammals, birds and insects, including 5 RSPB red listed birds and the protected water vole.; if you're lucky you might see some of them.
