On Bank Holiday Monday (31 August 2020) the Working Class Movement Library is excited to be hosting our very first virtual ‘Radical Sounds’ event. Join us from 7pm from the comfort of your living room for a fantastic mixture of music and readings curated by our very own Maxine Peake.

This unique celebration of talent and working class culture has something to appeal to everyone.  The evening will feature music from:

There will also be radical readings, including The ballad of Joe Hill, Emil Cioran’s Faces of decadence and Bertolt Brecht’s A worker reads history, by:
Natasha Cottriall

Christopher Eccleston saying 'a few words for Boris Johnson'
Carla Henry (a new poem by Carla about activist Olive Morris)
Kris Hitchen
Nico Mirallegro

Maxine Peake
Lias Saoudi (Fat White Family & Moonlandingz).

Maxine Peake said: 'It's been such a treat for me to bring together such an impressive and eclectic bunch of artists, and I'd like to thank them all for their eagerness to support this great cause. The Library really does deserve everyone's support, so we do hope you'll feel able to contribute as well as sitting back and enjoying our Radical Sounds this coming Bank Holiday'.

The event is free. You can donate to the Library at www.wcml.org.uk/shopping-basket, and you can support us longer-term by becoming a Radical Reader at www.wcml.org.uk/RadicalReader.

There's more information at www.wcml.org.uk/RadicalSounds and everyone will be able to participate in the evening from there and from the Library Facebook page – you can sign up via those pages on the day.
