1. Hit show heads to HOME

Enjoy a euphoric night on the rock ‘n’ roll rollercoaster with singer Hedwig, a hedonistic genderqueer anti-heroine seemingly hellbent on destruction. Running from 27 April – 11 May at HOME, this darkly humorous self-love story, powered by a live band, epic rock-inspired music and hard-hitting lyrics, explores gender identity, acceptance and the freedom to be whoever you want to be.

2. Celebrate diversity in Bury with Pride

Bury will hold its annual Pride festival this year on Saturday 30 April. This celebration of equality and diversity will focus around a walking rainbow parade and family orientated activities and performances suitable for all ages. Whether you are taking part in the rainbow walking parade, coming along to the party or just supporting from the sidelines, the coming together of the Bury community to help break down barriers for the LBGTQ+ community will be a fantastic day of celebration in Bury.

3. Sounds from the Other City is back!

After a two-year absence, Sounds from the Other City returns to Salford’s Chapel Street on Sunday 1 May. Regarded by many as the ‘Christmas Day’ of the independent creative scene, the festival will be back to bring colour, imagination and the best in new music and art to the pubs, bars, squares, studios, warehouses and ‘everywhere in between’ spaces of Chapel Street, Salford. 4. Hear from some of the best and brightest crime writers

Crime Central is a new monthly event at Manchester Central Library, featuring the best and brightest crime writing talent both locally and from around the country. Showcasing blockbuster bestsellers, emerging talent and industry insiders, Crime Central will share the real story of what goes on in the crime world. There’ll be giveaways, audience interaction, book signings, the chance to ask questions and more, the first event will welcome writers Janice Hallett, Jonathan Whitelaw and Sean Coleman.

5. Go on a tour of two of the world’s biggest football clubs

Come and sit in the managers seat, walk through the players’ tunnel towards the hallowed turf and find the seat of your favourite player in the dressing room. Get a feel for life in the Premier League and immerse yourself in an unrivalled story, the greatest football story ever told. Both Manchester United and Manchester City Museum & Stadium Tours, offer a behind the scenes look at two of the world’s most iconic clubs.

New opening of the week: Sugo, Sale

After several months of delays, rumours and roadblocks, the pasta connoisseurs of Sugo are set to open their third Greater Manchester restaurant at Stanley Square in Sale. From Tuesday 26 April, locals can expect their delicious Southern Italian pasta menu as made famous in its Altrincham and Ancoats restaurants, which includes popular plates such as their House Sugo with beef shin and Strozzapreti with Tuscan sausage.
