Our top tips for making the most of the week ahead, with brilliant things to do across the whole of Greater Manchester… For even more ideas, visit our What’s On page.

1. Take your pooch for ‘Walkies at Bridgewater’

On Monday 23 May, bring your dog to the RHS Garden Bridgewater for a special, 'Walkies at Bridgewater' event, when all furry friends are welcome. The garden will stay open late from 4 pm until 7 pm, so you can enjoy extra hours exploring the outdoor areas with your canine companion, including the Weston Walled Garden, Chinese Streamside Garden and the Kitchen Garden.

2. Cheer on leading cyclists as grand final comes to the city

The Tour Series is cycling’s leading spectator-friendly event, as the hour-long men’s and women’s race allow fans to see Britain’s leading riders repeatedly, with the racing accompanied by a high-octane DJ set and festival atmosphere. Starting and finishing on Deansgate on 24 May, the one-kilometre Manchester circuit will see riders completing approximately 40 laps of the circuit around the city centre.

3. Vegan Pizza fest comes to GRUB

On Sunday 29 May, the likes of Four Side Vegan Pizza, Lucky Mama’s and Paradiso Authentic Italian will be coming together at GRUB in Manchester’s Red Bank neighbourhood, to put their own spin on the classic Italian dish. The festival has been incredibly popular in the past, understandably so, and organisers at GRUB expect it to book out pretty quickly this time around.

4. Mellow out with Manchester Jazz Festival

Manchester’s longest running music festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, returns this week with some of the best northern, national and international contemporary jazz – featuring big-name bands, emerging artists and new works. 2022’s festival will take place all across the city, at venues including Escape to Freight Island, Band on the Wall, Matt & Phred’s, NQ Jazz at the Yard, St. Ann’s Church, Piccadilly Station and Forsyths.

5.  New tour explores region’s starring role in film and TV

With a significant increase in filming across Greater Manchester in recent years, it was only a matter of time before someone started a dedicated film and TV tour of top filming locations. The Locationist tour kicks off on 29 May and will uncover locations from films such as Captain America and Morbius as well as TV shows including It’s A Sin, Peaky Blinders, Cold Feet and The Crown.

New opening of the week: Beigel, Media City

Opening in 2020 as a Bagel delivery service, Beigel, has now opened up shop in Media City offering quality, fresh, local artisan bagels packed with full of delicious fillings. Their menu ranges from the classics including smoked salmon, cream cheese and chives, to delicatessen specials of salt beef, mustard and gherkins to more adventurous combinations including lamb shawarma and harissa mayo.
