More than 3,000 foodies flocked to the Street East festival in 2019 - and fans of tasty treats are in for a Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday feast when the event returns to Rochdale town centre this summer.

Food lovers looking to eat, drink and enjoy free entertainment should head to The Butts on Friday 3 June. A special edition of the event is being held to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Organised by Rochdale Business Improvement District (BID), Street Eat was held annually until the coronavirus pandemic, bringing together the town’s food and drink establishments, with visitors having their taste buds tickled, thirsts quenched as well as enjoying lots of live entertainment.

Tasty food from local restaurant chefs will be served with dozens of mouth-watering dishes all at £4.50 or less including, Italian, Indian, English, German, American, Mexican and more.

There will be activities and rides for the children, a bar for the adults and musical entertainment. BID manager Paul Ambrose, who organises the event with support from Rochdale Borough Council, said Street Eat will showcase the town’s diverse food and drink offer: “It’s great we can finally bring this popular event back to get people together with food and drink and celebrate our town centre eateries. With the new restaurants that have opened in the last few years it’s going to be better than ever. Street Eat is family-friendly, you’ll be able to buy and try as many dishes as you like. Due to the work under way around the town hall we’re moving across to The Butts, another good location and very handy for public transport.”

While exact details have not been released yet, traders will include Bombay Brew, Vicolo Del Vino, The Medicine Tap, The Flying Horse, The Baum and many more.

Admission is free and the event runs from 11am to 7pm.  For more on the line-up visit and search #StreetEatRoch on social media.
