Europe’s leading shopping and leisure destination will host a fun-filled day of entertainment to bring together the local community alongside a host of refreshing offers and activities from retailers.

To mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Trafford Centre will host a day full of celebrations on Thursday 2nd June between 14:00 and 22:00. Trafford Centre aims to integrate and inspire the local community to unite and celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms, and the Commonwealth; honouring this iconic milestone with festivities including dancing, music, children’s entertainment, and the traditional lighting of beacons.

Between 12:00 and 15:00 Trafford Centre will come alive for a Tea Dance, bringing all age groups together to take part in contemporary and traditional dances to iconic numbers including Elton John, Spice Girls and Queen. This lively and heart-warming entertainment will be performed by the Miss Joanne Farnell School of Dancing on the main stage located in The Orient - open to members of the public, of all ages, to watch and enjoy.

Joanne Farnell, Dance School and Bridgewater Studios Principal, said: “We are thrilled to be included in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Trafford Centre. There will be around 50 dancers aged 6+ performing to fun dance numbers; we also have parents involved who will be dancing with their children! Our aim is to create a community feel to the day – we can’t wait to be involved!”

Moving into the evening, Trafford Centre, and Girlguiding Greater Manchester West [Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers] will host a Jubilee Beacon, one of the official events of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The official beacon lighting is an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate this historic milestone and will take place outside the Great Hall, to be lit at 21:50. Approximately 600 local Girlguiding members from Salford and Trafford will be joining in the festivities at Trafford Centre throughout the day, whilst performances by Louby Lou and local musicians take place on the main stage in The Orient. Members of the public are welcome to watch and enjoy the stage performances, suitable for all the family.

Our aim is to bring together the local community by offering fun-filled entertainment for the entire family to enjoy – we welcome the public to the centre to join us in celebrating”.

Rebecca Nicholson, Girlguiding Greater Manchester West Event Coordinator said: “Girlguiding Greater Manchester West are incredibly honoured to be a hosting one of the official beacon lighting events to celebrate The Queen’s, who is the patron of Girlguiding, Platinum Jubilee. We can’t thank the Trafford Centre enough for allowing us to have the event in the Great Hall as it is the centre of our Girlguiding County which covers the whole of Salford and Trafford. We are sure it will be a memorable event for our young members”.

Select Trafford Centre retailers are also confirmed to be involved with activities and special offers to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Selfridges are hosting a Jubilee themed craft making workshop for children in the lead up to the bank holiday weekend, on the 1st and 2nd June between 11.30 – 17:00 located in section Kids & Toys, Upper Level.
