Organisers of the event to mark the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre in Manchester are seeking 100 volunteers to take part and perform as a Laurel.
Supporting From The Crowd, a moving interactive outdoor performance inspired by the spirit of Peterloo, a Laurel is someone who will have responsibility on the day for a small group of audience members and will help them take part in a specially commissioned reading as part of the performance.
At Peterloo in 1819 people wore laurels (leaves) to symbolise that they were a steward for their community.
From The Crowd will take place three times throughout the day on Friday 16 August on the forecourt of Manchester Central, Windmill Street, Manchester.
It will involve spoken word, music, choirs, chants, and songs, remembering all those whose lives were lost or changed forever two hundred years ago.
