Day Three: London
After two jam-packed days in Manchester, it's time to begin your journey down South. Start your trip at Manchester's Piccadilly station where trains run regularly to London's Euston station. In a little over two hours you will arrive in the heart of the capital.
Using your Oyster Card, head south by tube to Waterloo station and start your weekend in style with a VIP ride on the The Coca-Cola London Eye where you can enjoy one of London's most spectacular views. On a clear day you can see up to 40 kilometres away. It's a London experience not to be missed.
For an alternative view of the city smallcarBIGCITY offers sightseeing and treasure hunt experiences in a fleet of classic Mini Coopers. With a team of highly trained local guides ready and waiting this is a unique way to see the city from the comfort of a chauffeur driven car.
Enjoy a late lunch or early dinner and make your way to one of the many chic cafes and bustling restaurants of Covent Garden - a world-class shopping and dining destination attracting food-lovers and fashionistas alike. Close by you'll stumble upon Neal's Yard, probably London’s prettiest shopping area, this teeny, brightly-coloured courtyard is an Instagrammer’s dream.
Finish the evening on a cultural note with a dazzling West End Show and be wowed by the Royal Shakespeare Company's multi-award winning production of Matilda The Musical at London's Cambridge Theatre.
If the bar scene culture is more to your taste, head to Pop Brixton and eat, drink and dance the days and nights away with a whole host of activities on offer. Housed in a number of large shipping containers, Pop Brixton's many stalls offer fine global fare and drinks at reasonable prices. There are also bands and artists performing throughout the weekends.
Day Four: London
Enjoy breakfast at The National Portrait Gallery's rooftop restaurant which boasts spectacular views over London and has established itself as one of the capital's most sought after dining areas.
After breakfast, take a leisurely stroll across Trafalgar Square a must-see destination for visitors to London, and home to Nelson’s Column (a monument commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson, who died in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805), iconic stone lions, and the famous Fourth Plinth, which showcases commissions by contemporary artists.
Take the afternoon to explore the capital on foot and join one of the many guided walking tours taking place across the city. Whether it's architecture, music, Harry Potter or royalty that peaks your interest, a relaxing walking tour is a great way to spend the afternoon and familiarise yourself with the city. If you're lucky, you may even find yourself walking passed Buckingham Palace during the Changing the Guard ceremony, also known as Guard Mounting. The ceremony is free to watch and currently takes place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, weather permitting.
Speaking of royalty, no trip to London would be complete without experiencing one of the many afternoon tea options on offer. Indulge in a chocolate-themed afternoon tea in collaboration with master chocolatiers, Charbonnel et Walker, at The May Fair Hotel's May Fair Kitchen or if bubbles are more your style the London Marriott Hotel County Hall offers afternoon tea with a twist with beautiful views overlooking the River Thames and the Houses of Parliament.
Alternatively, use your Oyster card on MBNA Thames Clippers boats, a speedy option that takes around 35 minutes to Greenwich from central London piers including Westminster, Embankment and the Coca-Cola London Eye. Or, for a more leisurely journey down the river Thames, take a City Cruises tour with commentary, refreshments and fantastic views of world famous London landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
For the adrenaline junkies, take a high-speed ride with Thames Rockets, the original, fastest and newest speedboats on the Thames, offering edge-of-your-seat sightseeing on our iconic river. These breath-taking, action-packed experiences depart daily from the London Eye.
Continue your energetic afternoon with an exhilarating 90-minute climb over the roof of the world’s most popular entertainment venue Up at The O2 in North Greenwich. While in Greenwich take the opportunity to visit the legendary sailing ship the Cutty Sark, the world’s sole surviving tea clipper, and fastest ship of her time - now an award-winning visitor attraction.
After your busy afternoon, unwind and relax with an evening cocktail over dinner at one of London's many stylish bars and restaurants. Cahoots transports guests back in time to post-war 1940s to a disused tube station, where you can enjoy bespoke cocktails and themed inspired snacks. Monmouth Kitchen brings together an Italian and contemporary Peruvian-inspired tapas menu in a relaxed environment or if you have an appetite for sushi or Szechuan, satay or stir fry, Chinatown has almost 80 restaurants offering cuisine from across the Far East.
