Mobike
Manchester is the first city outside Asia to become a Mobike city and the 100th in the world overall. Originating in Shanghai, the service enables users to rent a nearby bike using a cashless smartphone app, locate it using inbuilt GPS mapping and unlock it automatically by scanning a QR code on the bike. The six month Mobike pilot scheme has made 1000 bikes available for use in the city centre and Salford in a project partnered with Manchester City Council, Salford City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester.

Manchester Airport continues to expand its international network with this summer’s new routes including Riyadh, while there is increased capacity from Hong Kong also increased frequency of flights from Beijing.
