3 Day Itinerary

Day One

Morning
Get to know the city you have just arrived at the heart of England’s Northwest with a private group with a Blue Badge guided tour of Manchester City Centre. Finish your walking tour at the Museum of Science and Industry for a fun filled and interactive couple of hours before lunch. Located on the site of the 1830 Manchester to Liverpool railway line – the world's first passenger railway – MOSI is one of the best cultural attractions in the region. Live demonstrations, costumed historical characters and guided tours will help you discover why Manchester is known as the ‘city of firsts’.

Afternoon
After lunch, head north of the city and jump onboard at the East Lancashire Railway. The beautifully restored steam railway takes you on a captivating journey through picturesque villages and historic towns into the heart of Lancashire's textile heritage that was so important to Manchester's prosperity.

After a full day head back to the city and spend the evening watching a performance and one of Manchester’s theatres.

Day Two

Morning
Start the day with a trip to John Rylands Library in Manchester. The library dates back to 1890 and is certainly one the most impressive buildings and visitors get chance to see the oldest known piece of the New Testament, the St John fragment.  Keeping the heritage theme to the morning, take a short drive over to Salford and visit Ordsall Hall. Take a tour around this fascinating Elizabethan black and white half-timbered manor house built over 800 years ago.

Afternoon
Once you've worked up an appetite, head over to intu Trafford Centre and grab a bite to eat in one of the 60 restaurants, cafes and bars within The Orient and enjoy an hours shopping while your there or visit one of intu Trafford Centre’s other attractions such as Legoland Discovery where discounted group tickets can be enjoyed.

Later, take a tour of the ‘theatre of dreams’ at Old Trafford Football Ground home to Manchester United located close to intu Trafford Centre and the other side of Trafford Park.  See behind the scenes of one of the worlds most famous sporting venues, see the impressive trophy cabinet and visit the players changing rooms.

Day Three

Morning
Travel the short distance to Stockport and step back in time when your group experiences the atmosphere and history in the labyrinth of tunnels at Stockport Air Raid Shelters with one of their fascinating group tours. Once back on ground level head over the Stockport Hat Works where visitors can experience the world of hatting from its very beginnings in a small cottage through to its time of mass production in the early 19th century.

Afternoon
After a busy morning, make the half hour journey to Smithhills Country Park, in Bolton. Whilst here be sure to take your group to the Grade 1 listed Smithhills Hall. This impressive family home is set in 2000 acres of park land and is full of history and drama to be enjoyed by anyone.
