By boat – there are moorings at both the Marsden end (at the Visitor Centre, lock 42) and the Diggle end. Click here for details on how to book your passage through the tunnel.
By boot or bike - follow the main road through the village to Marsden Station and join the towpath. Walkers, cyclists and public transport users get a 5% discount on a hot drink!
By train - Marsden Station is a 15 minute walk along the beautifully restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath.
By bus - bus route 184 Oldham - Huddersfield drops off and picks up on the A62 in Marsden village, then follow the canal towpath.
By water taxi - the Huddersfield Canal Society’s volunteers run a 12-seater water taxi service between Marsden Railway Station and Standedge on weekends and bank holidays. Please check their website for details.
By coach - coach drop off is at Marsden Station only but there is more parking at lock 42 near the train station (due to the tunnel’s historic nature, coaches are not allowed on site).
