10. The Ju-bee-lee Garden

We do love the bee in Manchester, and this garden is for our black-and-yellow friends. While purple is the colour of the Platinum Jubilee, it’s also one that attracts bees – and there’s plenty here for both to like, in the form of purple rhododendron, alliums, salvias and lavender. There are also pops of lime, courtesy of bright green hydrangea. With benches, hexagonal planters that reference beehives, and both a young and old silver birch (which reference the passing of time), this is a garden that appeals to all senses. The trees will be permanently planted later, as part of the Jubilee Green Canopy scheme, which has seen thousands of new trees go into the ground across the country.
