Brighten up your winter holidays and play with light, colour and music at the Science and Industry Museum.
Make, create and play with free activities, science shows and challenges for all ages. Add a ticket to our special exhibition Turn It Up: The power of music, exploring the science of music's mysterious hold over us and how it drives us to create, perform, feel and share; or play your way through 50 years of gaming with a visit to Power UP.
Enjoy illuminating experiments and hands-on activities with our expert Explainers. Make light perform tricks, create colour and play with shadows. Don't miss The Light Fantastic, a brand-new science show that takes you on a journey from the sun all the way to Earth. Discover how light travels through our atmosphere, find out why the sky is blue, and marvel at a mesmerising display of the Northern Lights as you enjoy NASA footage of the Aurora Borealis.
See science in action in Experiment, our interactive gallery designed for the whole family to enjoy together. Play songs on musical pipes and make music with your body, get creative with glow-in-the-dark art and throw some shapes to tell stories on the shadow wall.
Stay snug in one of the cosy corners dotted around the museum. Get creative with colour or relax by playing games with friends and family.
Journey through Manchester's rich legacy of industrial innovations, scientific discoveries and ideas that changed the world in Revolution Manchester, and meet the machines, people and stories that made Manchester the first industrial city in our Textiles Gallery.
