Halloween in the City returns!
This October, mark the arrival of Halloween with a week of terrifyingly good events at Halloween in the City. Manchester will become spooky with a giant rooftop monster invasion, Monster Party Procession, and a brand-new family-friendly Monsters Rock! Music festival. Manchester Science Festival returns this week running until Sunday 30 October with an unmissable programme featuring world premieres, inspiring experiences and entertaining events, all aimed at exploring what makes us human and asking the question, 'What does the future hold for humanity?' From family-friendly games and tinkering to after-hours adult events, there's something for everyone.
Explore the city’s culinary scene with a food tour
With a wide range of food and drink on offer and an array of new restaurants, cafes and bars opening in the city, there’s no better time to explore some of the dishes that make Manchester what it is. Visit The Lowry and view an ‘iconic masterpiece’
Last week, LS Lowry’s, Going to the Match, which has been depicted as an ‘epic masterpiece’ was sold for a record-breaking £7.8m. The loaned piece, which has now been acquired by The Lowry has been on display at the gallery since the year 2000, which means the sale will ensure that it will continue to remain on public view. The Lowry is home to the world’s largest public collection of paintings and drawings by Salford-born LS Lowry as well as a spectacular theatre home to entertainment and the arts.
Fight off the virtual undead at meetspaceVR
In the spirit of Halloween, team up and take down hordes of zombies at the world’s first warehouse scale, multiplayer, free-roam virtual reality arcade right here in Manchester. Situated a short distance from The Trafford Centre, meetspaceVR offers up to eight players the chance to work together to explore alien worlds, investigate strange disturbances on spaceships or battle the undead. New opening of the week: CAFF, Tony Wilson Place
From the team behind one of Manchester’s best street food markets GRUB, comes a new ‘no nonsense’ sandwich shop in the heart of the city’s First Street neighbourhood. The CAFF menu offers up a mixture of classic British delicacies, including freshly made breakfast rolls and traditional cold sandwiches, alongside other grab-and-go convenience foods like pastries and snacks. CAFF will operate from Monday-Friday, 8 am-3 pm and can be found at its new home inside First Street’s food and drink kiosk at Tony Wilson Place.
