The Hallé will back in The Bridgewater Hall this summer to perform six live concerts of world-class music.
The orchestra’s Summer Season runs between 3 June and 22 July and features an array of well-known masterpieces, including Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Stravinsky’s The Firebird, Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, Schumann’s First and Beethoven’s Seventh symphonies and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Other highlights include a joyous programme of West End Musicals and a transcription of Gershwin’s folk opera Porgy and Bess.
The Hallé’s Music Director, Sir Mark Elder, will open and close the season and the orchestra also welcomes some of Europe’s great artists to Manchester, including Tomáš Hanus, Tabita Berglund and Eldbjørg Hemsing. Hallé Pops Director, Stephen Bell will be joined by a host of jazz and musicals royalty, including Scott Davies, Jacqui Scott, Nicola Emmanuelle and Enrico Tomasso.
For everyone’s safety, new measures include socially distanced seating, face masks and timed entry. Sales for individual concerts will close the Monday before each event.
