MANCHESTER’S YOGATHON IS BACK!

GREAT NORTHERN CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY WITH FREE CLASSES hosted by The Life Centre

This International Yoga Day, practice your Sun Salutations a little differently, with free outdoor classes for all abilities at The Great Northern.   

Held in the centre of the Great Northern’s iconic amphitheatre, world-class yoga teachers from The Life Centre will be running back-to-back sessions for people of all ages and abilities on Friday 21st June from 7:30am – 6:30pm, to celebrate this international calendar day.

Downward Dog in this unique location for one day only, and discover more about the mental and physical benefits of this ancient practice, and how to make the most of them in today’s busy world.

Kick start your day performing 108 Sun Salutations as the sun rises over the city. This stimulating two-hour session will be led by accomplished yogis, Gavin Demarines and Sophie-Rae Martyn, and includes a delicious, healthy, free breakfast and hot drink for attendees.

Classes will be tailored to suit all ages, with toddler friendly sessions and a family yoga class also available in the Summer Sandpit, to inspire play and creativity. 

Mark Schofield, Centre Director for The Great Northern said: “We are thrilled to be bringing the Yogathon back again this year. The Great Northern is an inclusive destination for families across Manchester, so we are looking forward to welcoming everybody to these fun sessions that celebrate International Yoga Day again this year in association with The Life Centre.”

Free classes will run from 7:30am until 6:30pm and booking is recommended although there will be some space for people to drop in on the day:

Ruth Allan, business manager at The Life Centre, said: “We have designed these classes to work with everyday life, hopefully providing a breath of fresh air to people’s busy schedules, and demonstrating how yoga can be done by anybody at any time”

Any donations from the day’s event will be going towards The Booth Centre, that aims to end homelessness in Manchester.
