It’s National Curry Week (6-12 October), and honestly, there’s no better place to celebrate than Manchester — a city that truly knows its spice. From the sizzling streets of Rusholme’s Curry Mile to the stylish Indian restaurants in the city centre (and even a hidden gem or two out in Rochdale), Greater Manchester is overflowing with flavour, colour, and character.

Happy National Curry Week, Manchester!

Choose from the following spots:

1. Zouk Tea Bar & Grill

Kicking it off is Zouk, renowned for its authentic Indian and Pakistani dishes that you can enjoy in their relaxed restaurant setting.

They are giving customers the chance to enjoy bottomless curry. For £20 you can eat as much curry, rice, samosas, and naan bread as your heart desires.

Each day brings a new selection of four delectable dishes, including options for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans alike. If that isn’t enough, you can also enjoy unlimited rice to accompany your curry of choice and unlimited naan breads for dipping and mopping up your curry sauce.

2. Dishoom

Dishoom has a reputation for being one of the best Indian spots in Manchester.

They pride themselves on authenticity which is often hard to find and pay loving homage to the Irani cafes that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon chai, dinner and late tipples. All are very welcome!

Begin your day with a Bacon Naan Roll or perhaps a Parsi Omelette. For lunch, try Roomali Rotis – baked and filled to order – or the finest freshest salads. Sip chai. Or taste fantastic coolers, cocktails and dry tipples. Come for dinner for two or gather friends and family for a sharing feast.

3. Mowgli Street Food

Mowgli Street Food is all about how Indians eat at home and on their streets. She was born to feed the raw need Indians have for tiffins full of fresh bright intense flavour. It is a spot for diners to uncover their love for spices with an array of unique sharing dishes on offer to choose from.

4. Bundobust

Bundobust is a flavour-packed vegetarian and vegan Indian Street Food restaurant with two locations in Manchester, one on Oxford Road and the other over by Piccadilly Gardens. However, what is extra special about the Oxford Road venue is that it has its very own in-house brewery!

They serve food that everyone will love including their popular Bhaji Butty - who knew it would work so well - plus an array of other delicious sharing dishes.

5. Delhi House Café

This cafe-meets-restaurant concept is family-run and aims to re-define Indian Cuisine in Manchester with a menu full of stunning contemporary Indian dishes. The menu is a showcase of what ‘India eats today’.

They are all about fresh, authentic Indian flavours with key dishes like the ‘Not my Burger’ – an open burger of homemade beef kebabs served on a handmade tandoori naan and the Mysore Pak cheesecake, a dish with its origins in Mysore in India.

You can find them located inside the Corn Exchange

6. Akbar's

Akbar's has gained a reputation for its high-quality cuisine and vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant has been designed to provide a contemporary atmosphere and is, they would argue, one of the best Indian restaurants in the North of England!

At Akbar's, the emphasis on the quality of food is equalled only by the importance they attach to friendly, efficient service in an exciting, bustling atmosphere. Staff are highly trained and pride themselves on the personal attention they give to each table, making visitors feel part of the Akbar family.

Manchester's Famous Curry Mile

The fact that an entire stretch of the city is known as the Curry Mile is a testament to how important Indian food is to Manchester. Curry Mile on Wilmslow Road is famous for its incredible variety of South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Chit ‘N’ Chaat offers a lively take on Indian street food, perfect for a quick snack or casual meal.

Mughli is a long-standing favourite, so popular that Ed Sheeran has been spotted there. It’s also part of the House of Social Manchester group, which brings a modern twist to classic dishes.

Sanam is known for its delicious kebabs, biryanis, and traditional sweets that locals return for again and again.

Local Favourites...

Kabana is a simple, no-frills spot that serves hearty curries and remains a local favourite.

This & That is one of Manchester’s most-loved curry houses, tucked away in the Northern Quarter.

If you're up for a short drive out of the city, Milnrow Balti in Rochdale is one of Greater Manchester's best-kept secrets. Loved by locals for its warm hospitality and consistently great food, it's the kind of place that reminds you why small-town curry houses hold such charm.

Expect hearty Balti dishes, generous portions and vibrant flavours all at down-to-earth prices. Their Chicken Tikka Balti and Garlic Chilli Chicken are both must-tries.
