LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester is launching a competition asking kids to predict how we will live in 200 years.
Coming to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre this Autumn - a new challenge for all mini model builders! LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester will be asking kids to get creative and draw what they think our world will look like in 200 YEARS!
Will we be riding hoverboards? What will the buildings look like? Maybe we will live underwater?!
A leading Futurologist, Richard Watson will be judging all of the designs, with the winning entry will be brought to life in a giant LEGO model by LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester's Master Model Builder. The winner will also WIN a 12 month family pass to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester where they can experience the ultimate LEGO playground, equipped with 3 rides, 11 LEGO build and play zones, a 4D cinema and much more!
Kids entering should be thinking about:
1. Buildings (houses, schools, offices)
2. Transport (cars, trains, buses, bikes, boats)
3. The environment (trees, parks, fields, rivers, flowers)
4. Location (on land, another planet, underwater, in space)
When it comes to crowning the winner, Richard will be looking for the most imaginative and original pictures.
All guests to the centre will be invited to enter the competition by drawing their design and submitting the entry during their visit.
The competition is open for children aged 10 and under and entrants have until 19th October to submit their designs.
Richard Watson, who is the futurist in residence at the Technology Foresight Practice at Imperial College London and is leading the judging panel, said: “It’s exciting to think about how we could be living in 200 years’ time. If you think you can draw or paint your city 200 years from now, it’s time to get crafty!”
Laura Duffy, Senior Global Marketing Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, said: “It’s amazing to see how the world has changed in 200 years, but how will we be living in the next 200? Legoland Discovery Centre is encouraging kids to find their creative spark and let their imaginations run wild – we can’t wait to see how you think our cities will have changed by 2218! Good luck everyone!”
The competition will also be taking place across North America, Germany, Turkey, Australia, China and Japan throughout the year.
