Whilst museums in Manchester may be closed, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun enjoying them from the comfort of our own home.
Salford Museum and Art Gallery has been open to the public since 1850 and whilst we aren’t welcoming visitors through our doors we are inviting them to join us on our social media for activities, crafts and a digital art gallery all at your fingertips.
Find our artwork online!
For the past few years we’ve been working with Artuk to photograph and digitise some of our artworks both on display and in our collection, available to browse at your leisure and even purchase your own prints.
This includes everything from Victorian favourites such as Famine by John Charles Dollman to modern classics such as the work of Geoffrey Key.

Get crafty via social media
Salford Museum is home to incredibly popular craft socials each month, and we’re taking these online. Our expert crafter Caroline Coates will be creating some DIY craft videos using materials you can find around your home. These will be published over the next few months.
If you’re looking for something to do with the kids, our family activities are also going online! Our heritage facilitators have developed some fun crafts that you can do from the comfort of your own home, which will also be uploaded onto our Facebook page.

As you can see, our staff have been working hard to ensure that whilst we can’t open the doors, the museum is still able to welcome visitors online. Our museum is run by Salford Community Leisure helped by support from the people we serve.
If you’d like to help support the museum during shutdown, you can do so on our justgiving page below
