If you're looking for a great family day out this summer - look no further than the National Football Museum.
The museum was the first major attraction to reopen in Manchester having been closed for four months.
Alongside the museum’s four-floor line-up of galleries telling the story of the beautiful game, visitors can get their photograph with the museum’s Premier League trophy and see two fabulous exhibitions.
Families can enjoy family trails around the galleries. Pick up a copy at the museum or download at home ahead of your trip. More details at www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/families
The museum is currently open Thursday-Sunday from 10.30am – 4pm
Pick you fave shirt in our exhibition: Strip! How Football Got Shirty, or try your luck from 12 yards in Penalty Shootout which has a brilliant new projector for an even more realistic experience.
Tim Desmond, Chief Executive at the museum, said: "What I love is seeing visitors having fun and enjoying football at the museum. I look forward to welcoming more and more visitors over summer and sharing stories about our national game."
Online booking is advised: https://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/tickets
Residents living in the City of Manchester get free entry to the museum – just bring a household bill with your postcode on.
The museum has just been recognised by charity Kids in Museums for its family digital output during the lockdown. The attraction is shortlisted in the Family Friendly Museum Award From Home awards.
Christian Allen, the museum’s Learning and Communities manager, said: "It’s brilliant to be recognised by the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards for our 'Kicking off Your Creativity' series with author Matt Oldfield.
“We've partnered with Matt on several school/family events at the museum. Lockdown gave us an opportunity to build on this and develop some creative writing activities for home learners.
“The video series is still available for any children wanting to rewrite football history using Matt's scene setters and several of his popular Ultimate Football Heroes series of books are available in the museum shop."
