Alexandra Park will be the central stage for another weekend of celebration. The Manchester Caribbean Carnival is back for its 51st anniversary on the 12 and 13 August. This free, family-friendly event will see generations of communities come together to celebrate heritage, with traditional Mas bands, dance troupe performances and authentic Caribbean food and drinks.
 

2. Look beyond borders with a new dystopian exhibition
 

A thought-provoking, free new exhibition by Jessica El Mal and Parham Ghalamdar is currently on display at Castlefield Gallery. On until 24 September, The Poetics of Water explores how capitalism, corruption and colonialism affect the natural environment. Go check out this exhibition, where you’ll be invited to reflect on the world around you.
 

3. Dance the night away like it’s Ibiza… in Tatton Park
 

On Saturday 12 August, get ready for an evening of partying. Classic Ibiza is back this year, and Tatton Park will become the dancefloor for the occasion. With Urban Soul Orchestra headlining, you will also see performances from DJ Goldierocks and DJ Jose Luis. Bring your own food and drink or enjoy delicious food from street vendors and cold drinks from the San Miguel Bar. Tickets from £48.
 

4. They are lean, green, mean and up to something!
 

Everyone’s favourite superhero turtles are hiding across Manchester. Around the city centre until 15 August, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem art trail has been created by six Blank Walls artists, with artworks matching the style of the new action-packed comedy film. Set out to explore the city to find out what Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello have been up to.
 

5. Let your taste buds indulge in a world of delicious treats
 

One of the most exciting festivals for true foodies is back! This weekend, 12 and 13 August, the Heaton Park Food & Drink Festival brings you delicious street food and tasty artisan treats along with independent bars and a full ale house. For two full days, there will be free live entertainment, including music, cooking demos, magic shows, a fun fair and even a mobile educational farm! Tickets from £8.95.
