1. Join in the 50th anniversary celebrations of Manchester Caribbean Carnival 
 

The Manchester Caribbean Carnival, now in its 50th year, returns to Alexandra Park for its annual two-day carnival on 13-14 August. The two-day free event will be a family friendly celebration of community, heritage, and music. There will be a vast food and drink offering, live music, and a blaze of colour via carnival troupes to commemorate both 50 years of Carnival and 60 years of Jamaican independence. 
 

2. Enjoy live music, food and ‘feel good’ in Rochdale 
 

Rochdale Feel Good Festival on Saturday 13 August will feature a showcase of top-class entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music from the likes of The Fratellis, HAiG and Northern Soultrain alongside new local talent like Rochdale band, The Sprats. The festival takes places across a mix of indoor and outdoor venues, with a wide selection of food and drink. Tickets start from £7. 
 

3. Celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride as festivities come to Wigan 
 

Established in 2015, Wigan’s Pride event returns this year on Saturday 13 August. The event celebrates equality and diversity through music and the arts, with a parade through the town during the festival. Open and free to all, the event doubles as a showcase of the very best aspects of Wigan, through floats, dancers, drumming, colourful costumes and more, and will this year feature a special performance by the Cheeky Girls. 
 

4. Commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence with Dishoom 
 

Join Dishoom on Monday 8 August for a unique evening event commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence and the creation of Pakistan. This event will bring together intimate testimonies, specially composed musical performances, and a plentiful Dishoom feast in a unique interpretation of Kavita Puri's book Partition Voices: Untold British Stories. 
 

5. Explore a town of culture with Stalybridge Street Fest 
 

Awarded ‘Town of Culture Award 2022’, Stalybridge is your must-go-to place for activities and events across 2022. This Friday 12 August,  Stalybridge Street Fest returns at Armentieres Square with an artisan foodie market – expect food, drinks and music running from 5pm to 9pm. Also at the festival, you will find storyteller Gav Cross bringing his Twisted Tales for Terrible Children, walkabout characters, and live music. New opening of the week: Asha’s restaurant and The Peterman 
 

The award-winning Asha’s restaurant will reopen its doors this week, alongside stylish new bar The Peterman, adding to the already vibrant food and drink scene on the city’s Peter Street. Opening on 10 August, the restaurant promises the finest food from India’s North West province, whilst the accompanying bar offers guests ‘opulence and luxury’. On 15 August, diners are invited to an exclusive 3-course event marking the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.  

Asha’s and The Peterman are part of an exciting new renovation, which will see a bold new hotel, Forty Seven, open later this month.
