These ‘Xmas Horror Nights’ provide an online opportunity to enjoy a festive cinematic thrill, featuring spooky shorts and some eerie extras as well as full-length feature films.

On Friday 11 December, there will be the premiere of For The Sake Of Vicious; pitting an innocent nurse against some deadly intruders in what becomes a brutal battle for survival. The emotionally harrowing feature film Rose will also be premiering on the same evening – the tale of a woman trapped by her own ill-health, as well as a dynamic of seclusion that is soon to be disrupted…
And that is not all! Making Friday 11 December an all-the-more freaky night to remember, the full-length film content will also be supported by a selection of shorts, with family-focused fears and domestic dread being key themes. This includes the heartrending Us – complete with the context of a Pandemic, rural England claustrophobia is brought to the fore in The Farmhouse, and Simon Stanford’s The Incubus sees a boyfriend’s return from the pub take a sinister turn. Guilt becomes its own monster in The Shallows, Ryan Harr and Jacquelyn Ferguson's Reflected plunges a woman into her worst nightmare, and finally there is claustrophobic short The Keeper: a creepy take on a young carer feeling increasingly under-threat in her patient’s home.
The hard-hitting horror carries on in the form of Saturday 12th December’s Xmas Horror Night line-up. Premiering will be Deathcember, a creepy compilation composed of 24 microshort films taking a twisted look at the festive season. Think of an advent calendar packed with twisted treats and genre talent! Red Screening (Al morir la Matinée) is the other freaky feature (a still from the film is pictured below) for the evening, following the course of a rainy night in ‘90s Montevideo and a movie auditorium with danger on the loose. A retro-styled slasher from the Director Maximiliano Contenti sure to get the goosebumps going! These features will also be supported by a shorts selection, with titles including Suspense, Like Me Deadly, Make A Wish and Here There Be Tygers – the latter being Polly Schattel's terrifying take on Stephen King’s first ever published short story.
All the above films will be available on the online platform Eventive, which Grimmfest has partnered up with to deliver a diversity of virtual delights over the course of 2020, including the much-loved Grimmfest 2020: online edition. Now December keeps the seasonal scares going with its ‘Xmas Horror Nights’, with additional content including Christmas competitions, festive goodies, cast and crew Q&As, and so much more!
This thrilling festive offering marks the end of an impressive year for Grimmfest, which not only hosted a packed virtual edition of its annual festival for five days in October, but was recently declared one of the ‘World’s 50 Best Genre Fests of 2021’ according to MovieMaker Magazine.
