Get Creative at The Manchester Flower Festival - Your Workshop Guide

Explore a blooming variety of creative workshops across the city — from free drop-in activities like bouquet-making, pot-painting, and family gardening, to bookable hands-on experiences such as macramé plant hanger and pressed flower lantern making.

With events running throughout the Bank Holiday weekend at locations including the Floral Marquee, Printworks, and Søstrene Grene, there's something for every age, interest, and budget.

1. Free Family Gardening Workshops

• Details: Join Manchester urban gardeners Plant Co-operative for a full day takeover of free, drop-in family friendly activities, including:
  • Give urban wildlife a helping hand by making Wildflower Seed Bombs!
  • Plant your very own Sunflower to grow into the sky at the Sunflower Station!
  • Get creative whilst making a home for our urban Earwigs, best creation wins a goodie bag of prizes.

2. Paint 'n' Plant

• Date: Friday 23rd- Monday 26th May 
• Times:  10.30AM- 12.00pm / 1.00PM- 3.00pm Daily 
• Location: St Ann’s Square
• Cost: Free
• Booking: No booking required; drop-in sessions
• Details: Join Clocktower Florist to paint your own beautiful pot or plant your own flowering plant to take home as a souvenir from Manchester's flower festival 2025! 

3. Bouquet-Making Workshops with David Wayman at Printworks

• Date: Saturday, 24 May 2025
• Time: Hourly sessions from 12:00pm to 3:00pm
• Location: Printworks 
• Cost: Free
• Booking: First-come, first-served basis
• Details: Participate in hands-on bouquet-making workshops as part of the "A World in Bloom" installation.

4. Handmade Pressed Flower Paper Lantern Workshop

• Date: Saturday 24 May 2025
• Time: 11:00am – 3:00pm
• Location: Floral Marquee, New Cathedral Street 
• Cost: £15 
• Booking: No booking required; drop-in sessions
• Details: Smart Floral Art will be hosting a workshop to create your own handmade pressed flower paper lanterns on Saturday 24th May between 11am and 3pm, you can book a space online at www.smartfloralart.co.uk/workshops. All ages & abilities are welcome.

5. Modern Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop 

• Date: Sunday, 25 May 2025
• Time: 11:00 AM – 1pm / 1.30pm- 3.30pm 
• Location: Floral Marquee, New Cathedral Street
• Cost: £20
• Booking: Limited spaces; advance booking required
• Details: Join Manchester Macrame Co, for a hands-on macramé workshop where you’ll create your very own modern plant hanger — complete with a plant pot to take home.

6. Flower Crafting with Søstrene Grene

• Date: Monday, 26 May 2025
• Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Location: Søstrene Grene store
• Cost: Free

• Details: Engage in creative flower crafting activities throughout the day.
