Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester City Council’s Christmas spokesperson, said: “We have already been inundated with people asking about the mugs. As soon as the market open we’ll have queues around the block.  We know how much visitors to the city love the designs each year and there’s some devotees who have a collection going back years – and this year’s designs are a real Christmas cracker.”

Cllr Luthfur Rahman, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “Our mugs have become a real collector’s item. More than 100,000 mugs are made each year and every year they are all snapped up by visitors to the market. Grab yours early to make sure you get one before we run out.”
