Pop up Oldham Classic Car Show - Vintage automobiles will be converge on the Town Centre as Oldham welcomes back the return of its annual Classic Car Show on a slightly smaller scale just for this year. Tame Valley Car Club will be exhibiting an array of vintage and classic vehicles that have been lovingly restored by their owners.
Cap & Dove is a travelling mini arts centre, which houses a tiny theatre, museum and a shop.
The project celebrates protest, liberty and equality, the same themes that united Greater Manchester at Peterloo over 200 years ago. A Peterloo legacy project, Cap & Dove harnesses and takes forward the spirit captured in Greater Manchester’s Peterloo commemorations during summer 2019.
The commissioned artist Joshua Sofaer has collaborated with artists from across Greater Manchester to make, decorate and design the vehicle. The interior features wallpaper, curtains and floor tiles designed and decorated by local artists. The onboard shop sells items made by local makers, and the artefacts on display have been carefully selected by curators at Gallery Oldham. They feature a bugle used at Tandle Hill in the days before Peterloo and the original Granellis Ice Cream horn – two very different objects that were both used as a call to action.
As a theatre, Cap & Dove presents a live performance programme at each of the tour locations. The programme will be performed by the Cap & Dove ensemble, six artists and theatre makers from Greater Manchester.
