St. Patrick’s Day falls on 17 March, with events across the city including the Manchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade, live Irish music, traditional dancing, food specials, and themed celebrations - some lasting an entire week! Most events take place around Sunday 15 March, so there’s usually no need to book annual leave. Manchester’s Irish community plays a central role in organising cultural events, pub gatherings, and family-friendly activities throughout the St. Patrick’s Day period.
Whether you’re planning an evening in Manchester’s Irish pubs or looking for daytime cultural events, there are plenty of options across the city centre and the surrounding Greater Manchester boroughs.
1. Enjoy a Proper Pint at Mulligans Irish Pub
Right in the heart of Deansgate, Mulligans sits at the centre of Manchester’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. With over 170 years of history, this iconic Irish pub comes alive for Paddy’s Day, attracting crowds with days of live music, flowing pints of Guinness, and a full programme of traditional Irish sessions. Last year, Mulligans was one of just 35 pubs featured in Guinness's inaugural Harp Guide, cementing its reputation as the best place in Manchester for a pint. Expect wall-to-wall craic, as musicians fill both floors from afternoon until late, creating an unrivalled Irish atmosphere.
Widely hailed as serving the best pint of Guinness in Manchester, with many even saying the best outside of Ireland, Mulligans is the place to go if you’re after the perfect pour. Tucked away just off Deansgate, Mulligans is the city’s oldest Irish pub, pouring pints and welcoming guests…

St Patrick’s Week at O’Malleys
While you’re on the hunt for the perfect pint of Guinness, O’Malleys has a full week of celebrations planned for St Patrick’s Day, including live performances, merch giveaways and, of course, plenty of the black stuff.
From 11–17 March, the Portland Street Irish bar will host a lively line-up of live music, bringing a real taste of Ireland to Manchester. Traditional Irish dancers will also take to the floor on Saturday 14 March and again on St Patrick’s Day itself from 6pm.
Happy hour will run from 3–6pm on Monday 16, Wednesday 18 and Friday 20 March, with £6 cocktails, £4 selected beers and ciders, £18 house wine and £5 pints of Guinness.
For those who prefer their Guinness in larger quantities, O’Malleys’ Guinness Bottomless Brunch is available daily until 3pm. Groups keen to practise their G-splitting can enjoy 90 minutes of unlimited Guinness alongside dishes such as a full Irish breakfast, Irish beef burger or buttermilk chicken for £35 per person.

3. Watch the Manchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Manchester is gearing up to mark St Patrick's Day this weekend with a fantastic music and dance-filled parade on Sunday that will finish in the city centre, alongside toe-tapping live Irish music performances, and food and drink aplenty throughout the weekend in the Irish Festival Village in St Ann's Square.
This year's edition of the city's now legendary Irish Parade - which first took place over 35 years ago - has once again been organised by Manchester's Irish World Heritage Centre.
It will start at midday on Sunday from the Irish World Heritage Centre itself in Cheetham Hill, and travel along Cheetham Hill Road heading towards the AO Arena, before turning right onto Trinity Way, left onto Great Ducie Street, continuing onto Chapel Street, then left onto Victoria Bridge Street, and right onto Deansgate, before ending at the junction of Deansgate and King Street.
The annual parade is expected to attract thousands of people into the city centre, with its promise of live (and loud!) Irish music played by marching, pipe, and accordion bands, who will be performing alongside some incredible troupes of traditional Irish dancers of all ages. It's anticipated the parade will last an hour from its start in Cheetham Hill to its finish on Deansgate.
As well as a full calendar of events at Irish bars and other venues right across the city, the run-up to St Patrick's Day next Tuesday (17 March) also sees the return of the Irish Festival Village to St Ann's Square in the heart of the city centre.
