The Lowry
The Lowry is hosting its third annual Open Day on 11th August, offering the ultimate opportunity to look behind the scenes of this historic venue and learn all about every aspect of the theatre. The Lowry is also hosting Lowry None-Stop, a programme of free, fun activities for all the family running in the Lowry Galleries from 1st August until 1st September 2019, 11am-4pm.
The smash-hit touring production of We’re Going on A Bear Hunt is coming to the Lowry directly from the West End, from 3rd August to 1st September. Based on Michael Rosen’s beloved story, this fun-filled adaptation takes the audience on an interactive journey featuring catchy songs, interactive scenes, plenty of adventure and a few surprises along the way. Suitable for ages 3 and up.
The Lowry presents Mythos at Lyric Theatre, a trio of plays based on Greek mythology, written by and starring Stephen Fry. Fry takes to the stage in the company of the Greek gods, heroes and men whose gripping tales still echo today. Laugh-out loud funny, mind-blowing and often personal, Mythos is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the icon himself. Friday 30 August & Saturday, 31 August.
The Lowry is also offering your final chance to see the award-winning comedy Early Doors, returning after its sell-out run in 2018. Written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, The Grapes Pub will reopen its doors for a final run from 24th July – 3rd August, for a not to be missed night of fun and laughter, with tickets from £28.
Expect the Unexpected, will run until 29th September. An eclectic and provocative exhibition of work at the Lowry Galleries will feature artists including Yoko Ono, Keith Tyson, Gillian Wearing and Greig Burgoyne. Alongside film, painting, sculpture, performance and photography is a newly commissioned interactive artwork by Manchester’s own Easy Peel, and an opportunity for you to contribute your own unique version of John Cage’s performance piece, 4’ 33”. Free entry.
Taste of Honey is coming from The National Theatre to The Lyric Theatre from 13th – 21st September. This classic British play written by Shelagh Delaney is an exhilarating depiction of working-class life in post-war Salford. Tickets start at £12.50.
Helly Hansen Watersports Centre
The Helly Hansen Watersports Centre is offering a full range of children’s courses and holiday clubs over the school holidays, guaranteed to keep children active. The Junior Learn to Wakeboard and Multi Watersports courses run Monday-Friday every week throughout the summer holidays beginning 29th July, and from Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th August. Ordsall Hall
If you’re looking to learn a new skill in the stunning setting of a Tudor manor house, why not visit Ordsall Hall? Lime
Lime, an independent restaurant located in the heart of Salford Quays, will be launching its first ever Pop-Up Prosecco Bar on the terrace for graduation season and live Wimbledon screenings with Jugs of Pimm’s will mark the beginning of the tennis tournament.
The Big Summer BBQ and Beats Party at Lime will also return on 25th August at 4pm; a celebration on the terrace that will include jumbo inflatables, glitter bar & face paints, al fresco BBQ, a pop-up Prosecco bar and speciality cocktails.
The Alchemist
The Alchemist are marking the tradition of the summer solstice with a Boundless Balearic Brunch every Saturday and Sunday throughout July and August to make the most of the warmer weather. With a menu that includes a ‘full alchemist’ breakfast, steak and eggs and a great range of vegetarian/vegan options, there is also an add-on option for bottomless cocktails (from a menu selection).
