Off King Street
Barbour began in 1894 in the North East of England. Founder John Barbour began supplying garments to protect sailors, fishermen and dockers. These first weatherproof items quickly established Barbour’s reputation for innovation and quality.
In the 1980s, Dame Margaret Barbour designed the three wax jackets that made Barbour a household name – the Bedale, the Beaufort and the Border. Classic designs, they remain best-sellers and are still made in the UK in Barbour’s factory in South Shields.
A 5th generation family owned British business and the proud holder of three Royal warrants, today, Barbour is a global lifestyle brand offering a wardrobe of stylish clothing inspired by the unique values of the British countryside.
