All Play Zones open daily from 10am-5pm and have activities throughout the day. 

Some activities across the playzones are happening in sessions or timeslots, including:

The Story Den: Cbeebies Bedtime Stories Live at Manchester Central 
CBeebies Bedtime Stories is taking place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th only. Please check The Story Den for the full listings.

The Soapbox at People’s History Museum 
There are two music workshops at The Soapbox, at People’s History Museum. Check The Soapbox for further details here

The Sports Hall at Great Northern 
The Skate Park at The Sports Hall, at Great Northern, is running in time slots and is suitable for 7+. See the session slots here

Do I need to buy tickets?

No, the festival is free to attend, and unticketed; some do, however, require booking:

  • The Soapbox at People’s History Museum: My First Protest Song with Matt Hill, Wed 18th & Thur 19th, 11am-11.45am / 1pm-1.45pm. Tickets 
  • Manchester Central Library: Crochet club Wed 18th, 2pm-4pm. Tickets 
  • The Story Den at Manchester Central: BBC CBeebies Bedtime Stories Live Wed 18th & Thur 19th, 10.30 / 11.30 / 13.30 / 14.30. Tickets.
  • The Studios at Campfield Studios: Blue Peter Behind the Scenes Sat 21st 10am-4.30pm. Tickets.

What age are the events suitable for?

The event has something for everyone, from toddlers to young Teens.

  • Toddlers will love some events at The Story Den at Manchester Central Library,  and The Sports Hall at Great Northern, as well as The Playground at Exchange Square. 
  • Young children will love: The Playground  at Exchange Square, The Carnival at St Ann’s Square, The Nursery Rhyme Trail at Manchester Arndale,  The Story Den at Manchester Central Library, The Soapbox at People’s History Museum, The Studios at St Johns,  and The Sports Hall at Great Northern. 
  • Young Teens will love: The Arcade at Printworks, The Studios at St John’s  and The Sports Hall at Great Northern (specifically The Skate Park, which is suitable for 7+ only)

Most activities are aimed at children from 4 age 14, but pre-walkers and toddlers can enjoy:

Yes, all areas of the event are pram-friendly. Paths are wide and accessible, but some crowded areas may require extra care. 

Zones with pram parks include: The Carnival at St Ann’s Square, The Sports Hall at Great Northern, The Story Den at Manchester Central, The Arcade at Printworks, The Studios at Aviva Studios, The Studios at Science and Industry Museum. 

Are there food and drink options available?

Yes, there are multiple food and drink vendors across the city centre. 
You can also find a pop-up mini market including street food vans and stalls, by Grub on Grape Street, at The Studios. 
There are cafes in People’s History Museum, Science and Industry Museum and Aviva Studios.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes, picnics are allowed in public areas, but some indoor venues may not permit outside food. 

There are picnic areas at The Sports Hall at Great Northern, The Soapbox at People’s History Museum, and The Carnival in St Ann’s Square (Outdoor) and The Studio at Aviva Studios. (Please note: you are unable to reserve tables at Aviva Studios for picnic use.)

Great Northern (The disabled toilet is located on the upper floor, accessible via a lift)

Please note there are no public toilets at Printworks.

Accessible toilets
You can find accessible toilets at Manchester Arndale. They have larger, private toilets at all three of their main toilet facilities for those who require them. These are accessed via a radar key, so if you do not have your own please just ask a member of staff who will be in the area and they will be more than happy to let you in.

There are also accessible toilets at The Sports Hall at Great Northern, The Studios at Aviva Studios, The Soapbox at People’s History Museum, The Story Den at Manchester Central. 

Are there any changing places?

Changing places at Manchester Arndale 

The Changing Places facility is situated on the lower mall of Manchester Arndale, opposite Shopmobility. Access to this room is via a radar key and by pressing the intercom to Security Control. Please call 0161 833 9851 if further details are required. The facilities are open in line with the opening hours of the centre and include:

  • Changing Bench – adult-sized and height-adjustable.
  • Hoist – ceiling track hoist designed to be used with loop attachment slings.
  • Toilet – the toilet is centrally placed with room on either side for the carers.

Changing places at People’s History Museum 

There is a Changing Places toilet on the ground floor. Use a RADAR key or ask at the welcome desk for access.
The doorway of the Changing Places toilet is approximately 1,162mm wide.

Changing places at Manchester Central Library 

The Changing Places facility is situated on the ground floor, please ask a member of staff for the access key. 

Facilities include: 

  • Changing Bench – adult-sized and height-adjustable.

Yes!

The Quiet Zone at The Studios at Aviva Studios
A tech-free calm space with unplugged art and crafts activities, soft lighting, cosy seating, and calming visuals.

The Calm area at The Sports Hall at Great Northern 
The Calm Zone is located inside the Book Nook at Great Northern Warehouse. The space provides an opportunity to take a break from the excitement of the Sports Hall and wider festival. Relax with sensory and fidget toys whilst calming nature sounds play in the background.

The Calm room at The Soapbox at People’s History Museum - This is a private room near the cafe, perfect for families who need a quieter space.

Yes, we have trained first-aid staff across all playzones. Please speak to a member of the Super Duper team. 

Can I take photos or videos?

Yes, photography and filming for personal use are welcome. Please be mindful of other visitors. If you are concerned about any unauthorised activity during the event, please inform a member of our team.

Photography and videography

Please note that filming and photography will take place during the festival.

If you do not want your child to be photographed or filmed, please speak to a member of our team, who can provide an opt-out sticker for your child to wear.

Our photographers and videographers will be wearing orange high-vis jackets for easy identification.

Images and videos captured may be used to promote the Super Duper Festival in the future.

We will not photograph or film anyone wearing an opt-out sticker.

If your child is photographed without an opt-out sticker and you later see an image you did not consent to, please email hello@superduperfamilyfestival.com and we will remove it.

Do you have a meeting point for lost children?

Our main lost child point is Exchange Street opposite the Royal Exchange Theatre, next to our Information Point. Lost Child points can also be found inside each of our partner venues and will be clearly signposted. If you have a lost or found child, please speak to a member of our staff.

The Super Duper Family Festival takes place in the heart of Manchester’s shopping district.

Bus

Car
Car parking is available at many locations across the city; the closest is Manchester Arndale.

Metrolink
Metrolink operates across Greater Manchester with the nearest stops located at Exchange Square, Market Street and Shudehill: tfgm.com/public-transport/tram

Train
Information on train travel to and from Manchester can be found at: tfgm.com/public-transport/train

Travel advice relating to the closure of Manchester Piccadilly Train Station during the festival

Manchester Piccadilly train station will be closed during The Super Duper Festival. To plan your journey into the city, please see the information below. 
 
Changes to train services 
 
From the south of Manchester: 

  • All Avanti West Coast Main Line services to Manchester will terminate at Stockport. 
  • All Cross Country services from the south and south west to Manchester will terminate at Stockport. 
  • A limited service will call at Manchester Airport from Crewe. All other airport services will be replaced by buses. 
  • Services from South Wales to Manchester will terminate at Crewe. Onward connections will be available. 

To the east of Manchester: 

  • Services from Glossop and Hadfield will terminate at Guide Bridge. 
  • Fast services from Sheffield will terminate at Stockport. 
  • Stopping services from Sheffield will terminate at Guide Bridge. 
  • Services from Leeds and Huddersfield will only travel to Manchester Victoria. 

From the north and west of Manchester: 

  • Services from North Wales and Chester will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Bank Quay. 
  • Services from Liverpool and Warrington Central will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road. 
  • Trains from Preston and Bolton will terminate at Manchester Victoria or Manchester Oxford Road. 
  • TransPennine Express services from Scotland will terminate at Preston. 
  • Services from Chester via Northwich will terminate at Altrincham. 

Rail replacement information 

Rail replacement bus services will run between Manchester Piccadilly and: 

  • Stockport 
  • Manchester Airport (some via Gatley/Burnage/East Didsbury) 
  • Chesterfield 

Rail replacement bus services will run between Manchester Airport and: 

  • Warrington Bank Quay via Warrington Central 
  • Preston 
  • Bolton 
  • Manchester Piccadilly 
  • Huddersfield via Stockport 

Rail replacement bus services will run between Manchester Victoria and: 

  • Guide Bridge 
  • Rose Hill Marple via Romiley 

Passengers for Altrincham are advised to use the Bee Network Metrolink connection.
