1. Manchester’s biggest music festival is back  

Manchester's biggest music festival returns to Heaton Park this weekend (11 - 12 June). Parklife is the largest metropolitan music festival in the UK and takes place at Heaton Park in Manchester. The Manchester festival blends sounds from multiple music genres with big names like Tyler, the Creator, 50 Cent and Lewis Capaldi taking the stage this year. Tickets start from £84.50. 

2.  A book-club-meets-folk-session comes to Manchester’s Jewish Museum 

Klezmer Tune Club brings together musicians to explore tunes from the rich klezmer tradition. On Saturday 11 June, Richard Fay and Daniel Mawson will take you on a musical journey through klezmer’s fascinating history and work with you on a new musical piece. Bring your instrument along to dive into a klezmer tune in a cultural, historical, and musical context, and build an arrangement together. 

3. Explore past, future and present with Manchester Histories Festival 

Manchester Histories Festival returns this week for its 8th year. Spanning across Greater Manchester in venues such as The Monastery, Central Library, Angel Meadow Park and the Gallery in Oldham. This year the festival explores the history of climate change as well as celebrating the rich histories and heritage of Greater Manchester through different exhibitions and talks.   

4. A extraordinary outdoor performance comes to Salford Quays 

This Saturday 11 June, a unique arts project inspired by the people of Salford comes to Salford Quays. Way Above the Houses will start with a performance of local dancers outside The Lowry and will make its way over to MediaCity Plaza for an extraordinary display of aerial acts, community performances and local voices. Featuring a kaleidoscope of moving lights and illuminated colourful umbrellas, it’s set to be a truly unique performance at Salford Quays. 

5. Manchester’s food and drink weekender returns 

This weekend, the Kantina Weekender will showcase some extraordinary culinary talent at Escape to Freight Island. It’s set to introduce some of the UK's most prestigious cooks, cocktail makers, the world's best brewers, and local food heroes as well as those that push the boundaries. The line-up has been curated with a passion for incredible food, craft-beers, new-world wines and liquors. Expect next level food and drink collaborations as well as live entertainment, exclusive talks on stage, satellite events and wine tasting.  

New opening of the week: Neon Tiger, Bridge Street  

Opening on 8 June, Neon Tiger will offer a vibrant new flavour to Bridge Street, taking inspiration from Northern Thailand, where the cuisine favours street food-style BBQ eating. The brand-new bar and kitchen will offer a shared dining concept for guests to enjoy, with flame-kissed skewers, vibrant salads, and a deep-flavour coconut curry noodle dish among the offerings, inviting guests to settle down and enjoy a feast of iconic Thai cuisine reinterpreted. 

Book Now: Candelight Oasis Tribute, Manchester Cathedral 

Join the Halle St Peter for a magical night of candlelit music paying tribute to one of the world’s most-loved Manchester rock bands, Oasis. On 22 July, listen to their songs as you’ve never heard them before, as a talented violist and band perform musical renditions of everything from ‘Wonderwall’ to ‘Champagne Supernova’.
