Exciting news from Grimmfest – the four-day festival of horror, cult and fantastic films which returns to Odeon Great Northern cinema in Manchester from 3 October 2019. Although the full festival line-up is being kept under wraps until Monday 2 September, it has just been announced that RABID, the remake of David Cronenberg’s horror classic will be screened at the festival – making it the Northern UK Premiere of this highly anticipated film! Dare you miss out?
Why is RABID so exciting? The film is set to be a vivid reimagining of the original, involving some added fashion industry satire too. And if that wasn’t enough, the festival team is honoured to welcome RABID’s writer/directors Jen and Sylvia Soska (pictured below) - also known as the Soska Sisters or the Twisted Twins - to present the screening! Whilst at the festival both guests will also receive Grimmfest’s special ACHIEVEMENT IN HORROR award which is sponsored by THE HORROR CHANNEL – and attendees can also get involved, as there will also be the opportunity for a limited number of exclusive signings.
Now in its impressive 11th year in Manchester, it is clear that Grimmfest is upholding its reputation as one of the finest horror film festivals of its kind, attracting audiences from across the world and featuring a number of premieres each time.
To add to this, two more European film premieres have just been announced as coming to the festival for 2019: SHE NEVER DIED (the female-centric follow up to Grimmfest 2015 hit HE NEVER DIED) and also Film Mode Entertainment’s BLOOD VESSEL (pictured below), sure to involve exciting things considering that Aussie special effects guru Justin Dix is Director!
This exciting news follows on from earlier announcements that Pollyanna McIntosh (Jadis from THE WALKING DEAD) will attend the festival to present her directorial debut DARLIN’, and there will be even more prizes up for grabs for the films themselves –worth over £120,000, involving 13 special awards.
Festival Director Simeon Halligan reflects:
“We will be announcing the full line up of short and feature film premieres on the 2nd September but until then, we thought it might be fun to share one or two pieces of exciting news.”
A limited number of full festival passes are available now from the Grimmfest website, which grant access to every film screening at the festival, every cast and crew Q&A, plus signed items from special guests and a complimentary festival goody bag packed with horror treats. Individual film tickets for DARLIN’, RABID, SHE NEVER DIED and BLOOD VESSEL are also now available!
