As one of the UK's most diverse and exciting cities, Manchester's food scene has exploded in recent years offering an incredible range of options across the city.

Check out our roundup of the city's top 5 fusion restaurants.

1. Vermilion Restaurant and Cinnabar

Vermilion Restaurant and Cinnabar in Manchester

Vermilion Restaurant and Cinnabar is 3-storey Asian wonderland that includes a restaurant, cocktail lounge, club, events hall and art gallery, designed by worldwide renowned designers such as Miguel Cancio Martins, Ken Winch, Warmrain, and Firefly.

The restaurant serves exquisite Thai & Indian cuisine and has recently hired Masterchef hero Bobby Retnakumar Geetha as Consultant Chef, making Vermilion & Cinnabar a landmark for Manchester and receiving amazing reviews from Wallpaper magazine, The Guardian, Tim Burton, Tatler, David Cameron, Arena Magazine and GQ.

2. Australasia

A million miles away from anything else in Manchester, Australasia isn't bound by tradition or a set of ideas about how an ingredient should be cooked, what it goes with or how it should be served and award-winning chef and former young Australian chef of the year, Paul Greening, epitomises this ethos perfectly.

Its strong ties with China and Japan have also helped determine the style of cooking, particularly the Japanese desire for perfection.

3. Tattu

The menu at Tattu focuses on Dim Sum and small plates created by a talented team, alongside a bar that provides an extensive cocktail menu and wine list including a selection of sake.

There is both high table seating and intimate booth seating for groups, with a menu of champagne and bottle serves available. The decadent Tattu Parlour is the venue's exclusive private room, serviced by its own entrance, bar and restroom facilities. The Parlour is available for bookings of up to 30 people for a seated dining experience or up 60 standing for a canapé reception or event.

4. Peter Street Kitchen

Peter Street Kitchen Restaurant, Manchester

Winner of 'Best Luxury Restaurant’ in the UK at the British Restaurant Awards 2019, Peter Street Kitchen offers an exquisite selection of contemporary Japanese and Mexican small plates, complemented with the finest wines, sake and signature cocktails in the heart of Manchester.

Whether large groups or those wanting an intimate dinner for two, all will be seduced by an array of exquisitely prepared dishes, showcasing flavours and ingredients of contemporary Japanese and Mexican cuisines. The venue also offers semi-private dining and events, allowing guests to enjoy some privacy, whilst absorbing the ambience of the Kitchen. With communal bench tables and their pièce de résistance, the 12-seater Hibachi table, Peter Street Kitchen can cater for a party of up to 28 guests.

5. Tampopo

Tampopo is Manchester’s independent, original, authentic, Pan Asian, casual restaurant. Like the traders and adventurers before them, the Tampopo team have travelled all over East Asia to bring their favourite dishes right here to Manchester.

Tampopo recreates the flavours and aromas traditionally found at the eternally bustling street-markets of Bangkok and Hanoi, the hawker stalls of Singapore and the noodle vendors of Tokyo. And just like in kitchens across East Asia, all sauces, stocks and everything else is made on site every day from the freshest market produce.
